Mauritzhof Hotel, Münster

The Mauritzhof, set on the green promenade of the vibrant university town in northwest Germany, had been a landmark hotel with a long history that visionary owner Stefan Reckhenrich transformed into one of the first boutique hotels in the 1980s. Marking a new chapter in its timeline, the September 2016 re-opening of the hotel suggested a forward-looking lift with the feel of a personal and urban retreat.

The six-month total renovation included an extensive refurbishment of the 1950's brick building, transforming it into a timeless space where intimacy and community hit just the right balance.

The thorough remodel of the building, including its façade, features an update from 36 to 52 rooms plus a penthouse where floor-to-ceiling windows showcase panoramic views over the green and urban settings of the city’s famous park promenade.

Our ambition to balance a sense of urban elegance with relaxed forms is characterized in a timeless collection of Scandinavian furniture. Clean lines, muted color palettes and herringbone parquet floors create a warm and inviting ambiance. All space layouts follow a sense of human behavior, atmosphere and functional needs.

The hotel features artwork from the owner`s private collection, showcasing retrospective work of Münster based photographer Berthold Socha.
