Sitting on its own peninsula, hugged by the wild wonder of a protected natural reserve and overlooking Paraga and Kavos lagoons on either side, we created Scorpios as a unique hub where the sophisticated nomad meets the unexpected, spearheading a new trend of holistic beach culture — a lifestyle commune where restaurant meets boutique hotel and nightclub becomes Zen retreat.
Central to the 6,000 sqm property is the gently weather-worn stone house with classic whitewashed stone accents. Simultaneously evoking 1960s Greek glamour and contemporary modernism, the structure consists of a 274-sqm main floor with a lower level, and 2,500 sqm of surrounding serpentine like terraces with Nomadic tents and a 200-seat restaurant nestled right at the core of the house, high above the beach overlooking the Agean Sea. Through it’s natural given situation the property has access to a private beach where wooden shelters provide shade.
Together with architects K-studio, and interior stylist Annabell Kutucu we developed the holistic design treatment for Scorpios, placing an emphasis on the essential and the celebration of traditional craftsmanship that fosters an environment of effortless ease.
We infused the site with traditional materials from the island, curating every detail from tableware to furniture, devoutly following classic Cycladic construction techniques to create an environment that blends into the earthy tones of the land. Objects found and collected from travels far away endowed the place with a worldly feel, enriching it with a wandering soul similar to that of its guests.
